Jallalū Kull al-ʻĀlam

While translation cannot reflect the poem’s syllabic structure, sound and rhyme, this is an attempt to express its meaning in English. The translation is not authoritative, and the actual poem is the Arabic original.

Jallalū kulla l-ʻālami bi-s-salāmi
Wa-aʻlanū l-ʻadla ṭūla d-dawāmi
Fa-inna s-silma ladhādhatu l-aqwāmi
Wa-qawla l-qisṭi aṭyabu l-kalāmi

Envelop all the world in peace,
And proclaim justice throughout eternity:
For concord is the delight of all peoples,
And words of justice are the sweetest of speech.
