Flag Proposals: Alberta

The existing flag of Alberta, Canada, consists of the provincial coat of arms on a blue field. This design is not very distinctive or clearly visible, especially at a distance or when the flag hangs limp. (It’s also reminiscent of far too many U.S. state flags which consist of a seal or emblem on blue.)

My proposal is closely derived from a design by Marc Pasquin. It’s an adaptation of the coat of arms in highly stylized form: blue skies, mountains, grassy prairies and wheat fields.

A horizontal tricolor of blue, green (narrow) and yellow, with three white triangles representing a mountain range in the blue stripe
