Flag Proposals: Cyprus

This is a proposed flag for a reunified, consociational Cyprus. The symbolism is simple: blue for the Greek Cypriot population, red for the Turkish Cypriot population, white for peace, and the eponymous copper for the island of Cyprus.

A copper flag with a blue stripe at the hoist and a red one at the fly, with narrow white fimbriations between the colors

It is inspired by a design associated with the unsuccessful 2004 reunification plan. I’ve opted for vertical rather than horizontal stripes to prevent the Greek blue from appearing to be superior to the Turkish red.
